A Norwich player who played in a friendly game on 12/06/2020 against Tottenham has received a positive coronavirus test.

Norwich will not name the player; however, he was 1 of 2 positive cases from the recent 1,200 tests. A statement from Norwich reads:

“Norwich City can confirm that 1 of its players has returned a positive test result following a recent round of covid-19 testing. In line with Premier League’s protocols, the player will now self-isolate for 7 days before being tested again. Before he can resume training, he must receive a negative test result”.

Despite playing against Tottenham on Friday, players from either club who may have come into contact with him will not have to self-isolate. According to Government advice, they have not deemed to be in contact for long enough.
Tottenham have reiterated that the Norwich player had “no close contacts” with their squad during the friendly fixture. There has been confirmation that their playing and non-playing staff do not need to isolate.
Unfortunately, this will rule out the Norwich player for the Southampton fixture on 19/06/2020.
