Coronavirus may stop Man City from spending this Summer

Pep Guardiola has admitted that finances have been hit due to the pandemic.

The Premier League has only just returned after a long 3-month-break and clubs are trying to understand how their finances are going to be affected. But City’s most pressing concerns are the upcoming transfer market – signing a Centre Back and finding a Left Winger; Leroy Sane is expected to join Bayern Munich.
Guardiola has worries that the coronavirus has caused financial changes for other clubs. Meaning that these plans ‘may have to be shelved’. Pep also went on to say, “in all places I have been – Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and here – if the club says, ‘we cannot afford it’, then we cannot afford it”.
Depending on whether people stay, will depend on if the team will continue with their current players. However, Guardiola revealed that Sane has turned down offers to extend his contract at the Etihad and is happy to leave if a deal can be agreed, this Summer. The 24-year-old is Bayern’s number 1 target, but City want over £60m for him.
This may mean that Guardiola is forced to rely on his existing options to ‘plug the gap when Sane leaves’.
