David Moyes ‘Fuming with VAR’

Moyes fuming with VAR’s decision to not disallow Tottenham’s goal, despite seemingly brushing the arm of Davinson Sanchez

Despite Tottenham’s strike in the first half rightly being disallowed for being offside, VAR’s David Coote still allowed Tomas Soucek’s own goal to stand. So understandably, Moyes was not impressed with VAR’s ruling for the second time this season.

The Handball rule states: Any goal scored or created with use of an arm or hand will be disallowed for the season, even if it is accidental. With this in mind, Bobby Zamora and Jamie Redknapp both felt it was a handball and believe VAR made the wrong decision by allowing the goal.
In his post-match conference, Moyes stated,

“I thought every ball that hit an arm and led to a goal was to be chalked off. I am asking who is making that decision? We scored a really good goal in the 90th minute at Sheffield United and the boy claimed it was a handball … Do I think it is a good rule? No, I don’t. Whoever was on VAR tonight didn’t do his job right. He didn’t abide by the rules that we are told to play by”.
