Premier League Players’ Names will be replaced with ‘Black Lives Matter’

For the first 12 matches of the season, Premier League players’ names will be replaced with ‘Black Lives Matter’ on the back of their shirts.
As a sign of solidarity, all Premier League players will have their names replaced with ‘Black Lives Matter’ on the back of their shirts, with a Black Lives Matter badge to be worn for the rest of the season. Troy Deeney, Watford’s captain, played a vital role in club discussions regarding this issue, as his girlfriend, Alisha Hosannah, designed the Black Lives Matter badge that will be worn by the players.
Any player who wants to ‘take a knee’ before or during the match will have the Premier League’s full support and Anti-Racism charity ‘Kick It Out’ have also asked players to feel free to participate. Several Premier League squads have already been seen taking a knee during training, with all 20 squads adding,
“We are committed to a global society of inclusion, respect, and equal opportunities for all, regardless of their colour or creed”.
Alongside this BLM badge, an NHS badge will be worn as a Thank-You to all NHS workers for their hard-work throughout the coronavirus outbreak.
